How SMS consent works

KAI Automation demo texts, run by Jason Keller · Last updated October 24, 2026

Jason Keller demonstrates AI phone and chat assistants to prospective customers. The demos run on demo websites that role-play a town's website (for example, a "Town of Londonderry" sample). In a demo conversation you can ask the assistant to text you what you asked about. Nobody is texted unless they ask, confirm their number, and agree to the consent question below. We never ask for consent by text.

Step by step

  1. Offer. When it would help, the assistant asks: "Would you like me to text you those details?"
  2. Number. If you say yes, the assistant asks "What number should I text?" and reads it back (voice) or writes it back (chat) for you to confirm. On a phone call that shows your number, it asks whether that's the best number to text.
  3. Consent (spoken yes). The assistant reads this exact script, on a voice call and in chat:
"Before I text you: by saying yes, you agree to receive text messages from KAI Automation, Jason Keller's AI demo, with only the information you asked for in this conversation, up to 5 texts. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time. You also agree to our SMS Terms at https://jasonkeller.dev/sms-terms and our Privacy Policy at https://jasonkeller.dev/privacy. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Your number is never sold or shared for marketing. Do you agree to the terms and privacy policy and consent to receive these texts at that number? Please say yes or no."
The demo collects a spoken (or typed) yes. On yes, the assistant says: "Thanks, I've recorded your consent. You'll get a confirmation text with links to the terms and privacy policy."
  4. Record. Only after a clear "yes" do we record your consent: your number, the exact question, your exact answer, whether it was a chat or call, the conversation ID, and the time. If you say no, or your answer is unclear, nothing is recorded and nothing is sent.
  5. Confirmation text. You then get:
KAI Automation: You're opted in to texts you requested, up to 5 per demo conversation. Consent not required to buy. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Terms: https://jasonkeller.dev/sms-terms Privacy: https://jasonkeller.dev/privacy
  6. Your texts. Each text carries only the information you asked for in that demo conversation and ends with "Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
